Tổng quan về Thì quá khứ đơn
Trước khi tìm hiểu về các bài tập quá khứ đơn lớp 6, bạn hãy cùng điểm lại kiến thức về chủ đề này trước nhé.
Cấu trúc Thì quá khứ đơn
Đối với động từ To be
| Khẳng định | S + was/were + N/ Adj |
| Phủ định | S + was/were + not + N/ Adj |
| Nghi vấn | Yes/No: Was/ Were + S +…? => Yes, S + was/ were./ No, S + wasn’t/ weren’t. Nghi vấn Wh-: WH-word + was/ were + S (+ not) +…? => S + was/ were (+ not) +…. |
Lưu ý:
- I/ He/ She/ It/ Danh từ số ít + was
- We/ You/ They/ Danh từ số nhiều + were
- Was not = wasn’t; were not = weren’t
Một số ví dụ:
- I was at my uncle’s house yesterday. (Tôi đã ở nhà bác tôi hôm qua.)
- We weren’t happy because our team lost. (Chúng tôi không vui vì đội của chúng tôi đã thua.)
Đối với động từ thường

| Nghi vấn | Yes/No: Did + S + V-infinitive? => Yes, S + did. / No, S + didn’t. Nghi vấn Wh-: WH-word + did + S (+ not) + V-infinitive…? => S + Verb quá khứ 2 (V2) |
Lưu ý: Verb quá khứ 2 (V2) là động từ chia ở thì quá khứ đơn (theo quy tắc “-ed” hoặc động từ bất quy tắc)
Did not = didn’t
Ở câu phủ định thì quá khứ đơn, phía sau trợ động từ did not/didn’t thì chúng ta sẽ phải giữ động từ ở nguyên thể chứ không chia V2.
Vậy nên Lucy didn’t went to her grandma’s house là sai. Các bạn cần phải sửa lại như sau: “Lucy didn’t go to her grandma’s house.”
Một số ví dụ:
- I went to the stadium yesterday to see watch the football match. (Tôi đã tới sân vận động ngày hôm qua để xem trận đấu.)
- She didn’t go to the market. (Cô ấy đã không đi chợ.)

Cách sử dụng và dấu hiệu nhận biết quá khứ đơn
Thì quá khứ đơn (Past Simple tense) được dùng khi chúng ta muốn:
- Diễn tả một hành động, một sự việc đã diễn ra tại một thời điểm cụ thể, hoặc một khoảng thời gian trong quá khứ và đã kết thúc hoàn toàn ở quá khứ.
Ví dụ: My children came home late last night. (Các con của tôi về nhà muộn đêm qua.)
- Diễn đạt những hành động xảy ra liên tiếp trong quá khứ.
Ví dụ: David fell down the stair yesterday and hurt his leg. (David ngã xuống cầu thang hôm qua và làm đau chân anh ấy.)
→ Hành động “làm đau chân” xảy ra ngay liền phía sau “ngã cầu thang” trong quá khứ.
- Diễn tả một hành động lặp đi lặp lại nhiều lần trong quá khứ.
Ví dụ: John visited his grandma every weekend when he wasn’t married. (John đã thăm bà của cậu ấy hàng tuần lúc còn chưa cưới.)
→ Sự việc “thăm bà” đã từng xảy ra rất nhiều lần ở trong quá khứ.
- Diễn tả một hành động xen vào một hành động đang diễn ra trong quá khứ. Hành động đang diễn ra chia ở thì quá khứ tiếp diễn, hành động xen vào được chia thì quá khứ đơn.
Ví dụ: When Jane was cooking, the lights suddenly went out. (Khi Jane đang nấu ăn thì đột nhiên đèn tắt.)
- Dùng trong cấu trúc câu điều kiện loại II (câu điều kiện không có thật ở hiện tại)
Ví dụ: If I had a lot of money, I would buy a new car. (Nếu tôi có thật nhiều tiền, tôi sẽ mua chiếc xe hơi mới.)
→ Việc “có thật nhiều tiền” không có thật ở trong hiện tại.
Ta nhận biết Thì quá khứ đơn tiếng Anh khi trong câu có những trạng từ chỉ thời gian trong quá khứ kèm thời điểm xác định.
- Yesterday: Hôm qua
- Last night: Tối qua
- Last week: Tuần trước
- Last month: Tháng trước
- Last year: Năm ngoái
- Ago: cách đây. (two hours ago: cách đây 2 giờ, two weeks ago: cách đây 2 tuần…)
- at, on, in… (at 6 o’clock, on Monday, in June,…)
- When + mệnh đề chia thì quá khứ đơn: khi (when I was a kid,…)
Một số ví dụ:
- Last night he slept with his parents. (Đêm qua cậu ấy ngủ với bố mẹ.)
- Liverpool gave away tickets to their fans last week. (Liverpool phát miễn phí vé cho người hâm mộ tuần trước.)
